Never say your transformation into a great speaker isn’t possible. I am proof that transformation is all about having the will to grow.
My father died when I was seven years old.
I reacted by refusing to speak, and developed selective mutism. Presenting myself, expressing myself, were foreign things to me.
I moved to the UAE at age 19, looking for a fresh start. My dream then was to be a professional model, which I did for many years. This gave me the confidence to appear flawlessly on stage, and the skill to make it appear effortless.
But my next hurdle was to open my mouth, and speak.
From selective mutism to Executive Public Speaking Coach
Nobody believed in me. I had a thick Romanian accent, and I couldn’t use English properly. My colleagues laughed and said: “You presenting? I can’t imagine that.”
Even my mentors told me: “You don’t have what it takes.” Determined, I used this negative energy as fuel to study English grammar, phonetics and elocution.
The result?
I’ve enjoyed five years as a professional media presenter, which allowed me to achieve my dream of becoming a world-class speaker. Today I’ve presented on stages of all kinds, for Emirates Airlines, Adnoc, Hermes, MiSK, Standard Chartered Bank and Audi.
Along the way, I realized I’m a natural coach. I earned NLP certification, and this has opened the doors for me to coach members of the royal family, CEOs and as well as executives of Emirates Airlines, Hermes, Standard Chartered Bank and Audi.
